Make Your Own Route?
This site has been built jointly by Bike Fed and the Wisconsin DOT. It will help you locate quieter roads in the area.

Dues, Benefits, and Waivers

You belong to a bike club. That means your voice is heard. As a lone rider, of course, you can ride wherever you want, but as a member of a club, you have political power. Cities, counties, and states listen to organizations, like your club and Bike Fed. Just in the past few weeks Appleton approached the club for input on bikeways. Go to our web site. Find some clubs and join a couple.

Membership has its benefits. You’ll get this newsletter early and in living color. Only members are on the email list. This means you’ll get notified of late-notice, impromptu rides. You also get the feel good of contributing to Bike Fed of Wisconsin, which works for bicycle friendly laws. Finally, you get the member discount on jerseys.

Then there are the waivers. Thank the insurance companies. Everyone who rides will be asked to sign a liability waiver stating that if you get hurt you won’t sue the bike club or the good people that are doing their best to run it. We are obligated to ask you to. However, the streets are public and we can’t, and won’t, stop you from riding with us if you don’t. Membership means that you only have to sign the waiver once for the year. Non-members will be asked to sign each time they ride.

So, dues are due. Please make the treasurer’s and editor’s jobs easy by paying by May 31st.
